I work from real life. I record, report, collect, arrange, rearrange, tell stories. As I become involved physically, emotionally, and intellectualy with the subject, it becomes an extension or reflection of myself. It is close to the heart.
Influenced by my own work, I look back to see who I am and what I want to say.
The concept comes from the emotional element. The content comes from the response to the demands of fate and from tending to the details of life as it presents itself.
My main medium is watercolor, an invitation to intimate, spontaneous expression. Line is my strongest design element, as I try to be sensitive to gesture and placement.
Since there is no separation between work and life, the satisfactions are deep and long lasting, undone neither by failure nor flashes of success.
There is magic in both the seeing and the doing. |
