I am a painter and a sculptor. Painting is for me a visual record of perception and a desire to impart something of this intensity of seeing to the viewer. There is a tension between the cognitive source of my painting and the intuitive source of my sculpture.
Although nature has always been the subject of my work, moving to Connecticut has had a profound influence on my focus. I have shifted from the water’s edge to the forest. I became enchanted by the trees. I painted and photographed them and began to weave wire vessels that took on a life of their own. The trees, alive with movement and life, became an unending source of wonder.
