My image-making is a reaction to both the physical and spiritual worlds around me.  What I see and what I feel meld into a timeless moment that is captured in the copper plate and eventually inked and impressed into paper. Intaglio provides a surprisingly fluid and changeable process that alters the initial image and feeling, despite the hardness and seemingly unyielding surface of the metal plate itself.  Both the plate and the paper become a tactile representation of the visual and emotional image.

Most pieces evolve from familiar objects that are layered, both emotionally and literally, with additional symbols, textures, and marks.

Sources of imagery include the familiar faces and objects around me, as well as the mysterious lives embodied in puppets and dolls, especially those of Asia, where I lived for 12 years.
